Frequently Asked Questions

You must be at least 21 years old when collecting a rental vehicle.

Under no circumstances do we allow rental vehicles to be checked out if the renter’s driver’s license is not physically sighted by our counter service representatives.

No, we are only able to rent to fully licensed drivers, even if your company has their own insurance policy that may cover restricted license drivers.

On the inside of your rental agreement folder which you should keep with the vehicle at all times, you will find an accident report form. Please complete this and give to a counter staff representative upon returning your vehicle.

Please refer to your rental agreement folder; this contains the appropriate 0800 phone numbers that you may contact in the event of a breakdown, lockout or tyre puncture.

The location you collected the vehicle from needs to be contacted directly and advised that you need to make a change to your current hire.

No. The only person that can collect the vehicle is the person named in the reservation. If it is going to be someone else, you need to contact the reservations team and have the booking amended to read the new drivers name. If additional drivers may later arrive and wish to drive the vehicle, please visit the local branch and advise the counter staff representative of your rental agreement number or reservation number, show your license and add yourself on as an authorised driver. Adding on extra drivers to a rental agreement is complimentary.

Call emergency services (111), contact the local rental car branch, and collect all third party details. Complete the accident report form on the inside of the rental agreement folder. Should the third party be at fault, the vehicle may be exchanged to another new rental vehicle. You may also refer directly to the "Accident Checklist" found on your rental car key tag.

No, if you’re using the Northern Toll Road you need to pay the toll charge/s as you normally would when driving a personal vehicle

Yes, rental vehicles may not be driven on Tasman Valley Road (Mt Cook), Skippers Canyon (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), and may not be driven on any unformed roads including beaches. Rental cars are also not able to be taken from one Island to the other. If you require another vehicle in either Picton or Wellington, you will receive a brand new hire car, but on the same rental car contract.

We only accept payment via credit card – our locations are not equipped to take Eftpos transactions, for the reason that Eftpos facilities do not provide us with security to take additional funds in the event of an accident or refuelling. All bookings are only payable via credit card. Upon arrival, the approximate total of the hire will be authorised on your card, then the exact total will be charged upon return of the vehicle. Receipts may be retrieved online.

Delivery is subject to availability, and only available throughout the week. This service is complimentary if delivering within 10kms of the renting location – outside of this, a surcharge will apply. Deliveries are only confirmed by the renting location directly, and all renter details including name, address, date of birth, license details and method of payment must be provided to us prior to delivery. Please contact your account manager for further assistance on this.
